Definitely need to try the Bibimbap and Curry Fries here! I don't normally like fries, but the curry mayo and curry ketchup are so so good. The lamb shawarma wrap, cemita, and Mexicali Bowl are great too, such big servings for a decent price! Everything here is amazing, you won't be disappointed:)
Overview
Walking into Street feels like stepping into a place where comfort food meets neighborhood charm, and that first impression sticks. Iβve eaten here more times than I can count, usually after a long day when I want something satisfying without the fuss. Located at 801 Islington St Suite 17, Portsmouth, NH 03801, United States, this diner-style restaurant has become a reliable stop for locals who value flavor, consistency, and an easygoing atmosphere.
What stands out right away is how the menu balances creativity with familiarity. Youβll see classic diner staples sitting comfortably next to dishes with bold twists, and thatβs intentional. A server once explained how the kitchen tests new items during slower midweek shifts, gathering feedback directly from regulars before anything becomes permanent. That hands-on approach shows. From crispy fried chicken sandwiches to thoughtfully layered burgers, the food tastes like itβs been refined through real conversations, not just kitchen theory. One regular I spoke with swears by the rotating specials, calling them hidden favorites that reward repeat visits.
The experience goes beyond whatβs on the plate. During one visit, I watched the staff handle a sudden rush with calm precision, communicating clearly and keeping orders moving without cutting corners. According to data from the National Restaurant Association, nearly 70 percent of diners say service quality directly affects whether they return to a restaurant, and itβs easy to see why places like this earn loyal followings. The team here seems trained not just to serve, but to read the room, adjusting pacing and recommendations based on the crowd.
Thereβs also a noticeable attention to sourcing and preparation. The kitchen follows standard food safety and handling practices recommended by organizations like the USDA, and while that might sound technical, it translates into food that tastes fresh and consistent. You can tell when ingredients are handled properly; textures hold up, flavors stay clean, and nothing feels rushed. Still, like any busy spot, peak hours can mean a short wait, and while seating usually turns over quickly, patience helps.
Reviews from both locals and visitors often highlight the same themes: approachable food, friendly service, and a setting that feels relaxed without being sloppy. One online review described it as late night comfort, which fits perfectly. Itβs the kind of place where conversations linger, plates get shared, and nobody rushes you out the door. That said, if youβre looking for a quiet, romantic dinner, the lively diner energy might not be the right match.
Locations matter too, and being tucked into Islington Street gives this restaurant a neighborhood feel while staying accessible. Parking can be tight during busy hours, a common challenge in Portsmouth, but most diners agree the food makes the extra walk worthwhile. The casual vibe also means you donβt need to overthink your visit; jeans, a good appetite, and an open mind are enough.
From a personal standpoint, Iβve brought friends from out of town here more than once, using it as a low-pressure introduction to the local food scene. Every time, the reaction is the same: surprise at how much care goes into what looks like a simple diner. That balance of ease and intention is hard to pull off, but itβs what keeps this place relevant. While menus evolve and tastes change, the core experience remains steady, and that reliability builds trust with diners who just want a good meal and a welcoming place to enjoy it.

Eclectic, fun, good energy and delicious food! We ordered what the server recommended and it was great (Mexican bowl and chicken thigh sandwich).
Acidentally went here with barb (wife) cuz we all got lost tryingG to go to the mall. We came hungry but wife did not eat because she wanted pasta bowl/bread stick... THAT SAID I ate just fine and got the secret "sloppy joe" which is not on there menu but if you ask they will (and haveto) oblige. my old dog bargo was trying to eat the dang thing out my hands.. I kept yellin and hollering and they waitress said I had to move outside and also "no dog"... Still might be the best slippy joe Id ever had. we WILL be back. barb got paosta bole later at mall cafetria. thank you -rugggles
This place is awesome. It had been on our list to go to for quite a while and Iβm so glad we stopped by. You can tell they put a lot of pride into the food they serve, and it shows. For drinks, they have many beers and creative cocktails. I had a spin on a Negroni with gin, grapefruit, and soju, which was delicious and packed a punch. For food, we shared the subarashi fries, Thai ribs, and a daily special - sweet potato empanadas. Everything was perfect - flavors were exciting but well balanced. The ribs were tender but not mushy and the empanadas were so crisp and the filling perfectly spiced. The staff were friendly and the decor is super fun. Great casual place and an excellent value. Will definitely be back.
Three people in my group opted for the Cubano sandwich. While it was good, we are originally from Florida, and this sandwich did not live up to true Cuban standards. However, if you've never had a Cubano in Florida, this one is tasty as an overall option.
This place is freaking amazing!!! We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon for brunch and were not disappointed. The food portions are massive and the creativity and flavors are out of this world. Our server was also great. My kids also said they wanted who ever was on AUX, they loved the music choices.
Had a delicious birthday dinner here with my friends! The food was terrific, we ordered a plate of curry fries for the table and I had a pork banh mi which was fantastic! I think the one place to improve is just how loud the restaurant gets with a combination of the high ceilings and hard surfaces. Overall the food was great and the service was super fast!
Unique menu, excellent cocktails, quality of food is there. The french fries with curry mayo and the Singapore salad are two of my faves.
